Transforming Care
A Pacific Parkinson’s Research Centre team led by Dr. Martin McKeown, Professor of Neurology and Director of the PPRC, has embarked on a five-year project toward transforming patient care, which involves the development and evaluation of innovative approaches to remote monitoring of Parkinson’s status. Also known as Longitudinal Monitoring, this project aims to improve the way Parkinson’s symptoms are managed through a highly personalized approach to care. PPRI is grateful to the R. Howard Webster Foundation for enabling our support of this project through its commitment as lead donor.
Global Collaboration
The work of the PPRC goes beyond the Centre, as the team has recently collaborated with individuals in Singapore to develop a mobile phone application for remote assessment of a person’s disease status. The potential of this project allows patients to be evaluated off-site, which is especially valuable to those individuals who live in rural/remote communities.
